8 Opportunities to Earn Great Money!

There are many positions available in automotive sales, starting with the salesperson (car salesman). To spite what some may say, automotive salespeople, many of whom are women, are good people doing an honest job. In my seventeen years in the car business, I have learned that automotive salespeople represent a cross section of society. Are there salespeople that will lie and cheat to sell cars? Of course, you will find people like that in every profession, you even find that type of behavior in customers from time to time. Fortunately those types are few and far between. Most are really decent folks who just want to help you pick out a vehicle to suit your wants, needs, and budget, in hopes they can earn a living providing a service. Given good automotive sales training you are likely to succeed!

1. Salesperson - In my opinion this is possibly the most important job in the dealership, for many reasons. Selling cars should be one of the most highly respected positions in the dealership. The typical new hire could work from 40 to 60 hours per week, with earnings based on the number of cars they sell and the profit derived from those sales of commissionable gross, with a guaranteed minimum commission on each vehicle they sell. Many sell between 5 and 15 cars a month, earning two thousand to seven thousand dollars per month. Those numbers are averages, there are sales people who sell 20 to 60 cars a month and may make as much as $225,000.00 per year. Of course, these folks are the top performers in there field. As in most sales related business, employees are compensated based on there performance. I know of sales people (car salesman) who will not work, and will not adhere to training guidelines who have sold as few as one car in a month and made as little as $800.00 for the entire month. Like other professions, to be successful you have to take the correct course of action. 2. Fleet Sales - Another excellent opportunity for advancement. In many cases a person working in fleet sales has the benefit of working with repeat customers.
