It’s my opinion that if you haven’t sold cars, you absolutely have no business at all in a management position. I am a salesperson at heart and I can tell you from experience there is nothing worse than having to work for a manager that has never taken an up.

You don’t have to be a top salesperson to be a great manager. However, no one should ever put in a manger’s position, that hasn’t sold cars, and that definitely includes F&I mangers. Likewise, I think it is the natural progression to be a business manager before becoming a desking manager.
